The modern world (personal view)

I’m a huge history and politics fan. Most of you aren’t, or pretend you are, if your one of the 2 groups then don’t bother reading this. And try not to be offended.

Were told the dreaded cold war has ended with the fall of evil soviet Russia (they weren’t good, but they weren’t evil). I don’t think so. I presume the war changed it’s fronts. The war got decorated in a Barbie dress, or just concealed. The Americans won, and they now do what they want do. Of course, they do it in a way that causes the least amount of problems, but even does in most cases cause more trouble then good. I believe 9/11 was a set up for the American government to find a good excuse to launch a war (just like Pearl Harbor) to get cheap oil. The reason they (presumably) do bad things like blowing up sky scrapers is because their a democracy (well, they aren’t now, but the skeleton is) and the American people are mostly pacifist. It would take a lot of time and money to convince the people to knowingly invade a dirt beat Islamic country which has been suffering loooooong before they “realized” the people are oppressed and it’s up to America to altruistically save the day (again). They did do a good thing, got rid of the dictatorship, and that, to any rational mind, would mean game over, the Americans can go home. Happy Hollywood story.

But they stayed years on end are a still staying, fighting a war witch is as useless and annoying as killing flees. What for? The country is Sadam free. And is doing the best it can to become normal. You can help it with money, not with soldiers. But then, you might not have the guarantee if getting your oil would you? Easier to have your soldiers guarding the precious treasure then trading it, and I really believe a democratic government in Iraq would trade oil with America, cuz America would give them everything a modern country need: factories, the I pod, MTV, cheap electricity, American (or Iraq) Idol etc.

Of course, I prefer having a real saying, like everyone does, whether we go to war or not, but if I had the painful option of choosing whether I know the mean selfish intention of my countries, and not being capable of doing shit about it (dictatorship) or being gruesomely lied to so I that I vote for a war I don’t know shit about or honestly care (America) id choose the first. That’s just me; I hate ignorance, though most people would choose the second one. Less to worry about for them. They say ignorance is bliss.

Anyway, so they invade Iraq to “free the people (oil)”, and they drag half the world with them. Of course the UN and EU (mostly) applaud this act of heroism, but as we noticed, after so many years, even they had enough, and that I believe (and hope) these major powers realized the real purpose of the US & A.

And besides them, other local major powers like Russia or China never ever liked the ideas of America invading Iraq. American soldiers next to their country, and America gaining influence (and it would even if it would do the correct (in my opinion) method of trading, everyone loves i-pods and MTV ^^) and especially America gaining more oil (though I don’t see why Russians are complaining about that, their oil feeds Europe, and they sold Alaska!). There were logical solutions to all 3 dilemmas for the 2 (but I’m sure their others) countries.

1) If…..

I already completely diverted from the original course of the post. If you’re clever you realize what it was. Guess il cover that in another topic, and I’l also cover the possible (and maybe a little naïve, but realistic) solutions.

I’m interested in any clever comments, especially if you disagree but don’t tell me u don’t believe that just because you don’t or America is not evil (well it’s not, just corrupt). Secondly, please let me know if you want me to continue on this trail, if I should change it and continue talking about the human condition (^^) or I suck and should forget blogging.
I like to think I’m writing for a reason, otherwise id just keep all this inside the dark confines of my weird mind. And for the second reason, I accept comments like “u suck” or “boring”. Their still opinions, I hope honest.

Selfishness

I’m a selfish person, but then again everybody is. Yes everybody is. Or maybe I’m so selfish I can’t even imagine how a person can work without being selfish. The most common form of selfishness is survival. We are still animals. Of course, we are complicated animals, and we need a lot more to survive then our pet dog does. But we lie and do things that most people would consider mean or unethical out of self preservation. We rat on our colleagues, don’t loan money etc to survive. The modern day human needs more the food water and air. Just give him does, and he biologically lives of course, but he isn’t human. The city is a jungle.

A second reason would be laziness. And my generation is a lazy one in general. And I noticed laziness advances the younger the generation is. We miss out on a lot of good things because we are too lazy to start them in the first place. The ironic thing is we became so lazy we willingly deny things that are good for us as well (thus canceling laziness). The reason is comfort. Most of us live comfortable lives (and stress does not cancel comfort) More comfortable then our parents, and I presume our kids are going to live even more comfortable lives then us, unless a nuclear war brakes out.

My most favorite kind of selfishness however is the elusive kind. People who do good, self sacrifice and so on. They are selfish to. They do these things to get support, to hear the thanks, to strengthen themselves. They help, because the process of helping, or the results, or both, make them feel good. And it does feel good when people thank you. A selfish person is a person who cares about his good first. And some people feel good in helping others. If I am to expand my sick (that’s what most “normal” people would call it) way of thinking, I would say Jesus was just a tool of god’s selfishness. He got what he wanted out of the kid, a worldwide religion; but I’ll address that matter in a different post

In conclusion, if you consciously, and after real thinking, still consider yourself, a totally altruistic person, then you must have something wrong with your brain. Watch out, it could be a tumor!
